Heidi Alert is a young adult author whose novels are rooted in the Caribbean. Her new novel, Sweet Roots, follows sixteen-year-old Kola Mohan as she fights to save her family’s cocoa estate in Trinidad’s Northern Range. Heidi Alert researched the book from the cocoa estates of Trinidad to Zürich, the self-proclaimed home of chocolate. Sweet Roots is scheduled for publication in early 2027.

Heidi Alert is also the author of the K’Luma Series, a YA fantasy series that includes Fight We Must and Win We Shall. She wrote and produced a memoir for her grandmother’s ninetieth birthday.

Alongside her writing, Heidi Alert has built a career in marketing and storytelling. She is an Industry Marketing Director at CGI, where she leads marketing for the Health and Life Sciences sector and translates complex technology into stories that executives and decision-makers can act on. Before joining CGI, she lived in Trinidad and Tobago for eleven years and served as acting CEO of Tourism Trinidad Limited, the state agency responsible for tourism marketing and destination development.

Originally from Harmony, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, Heidi Alert holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her Jamaican husband, their two teenagers, and their rescue pets.
